art without rules

I've always loved art/design and believe it should be for everyone.  I'm a big fan of mixing high design with low (think beach slides with a beautiful skirt and a graphic tshirt or a gallery wall of skilled oil paintings mixed with children's art) - it's all about the unexpected, embracing the rebellious act of throwing snobbish, stodgy rules to the wind (or into the sea) and surrounding yourself with fresh, relaxed design that knows no rules except to embrace what brings you joy. 

 

The South Laguna Art Project, SLAP, is hosted in my design studio in South Laguna, J R U B Y, and will holds arts & crafts classes.  From an ocean view room in the historic St Clair Building, you'll leave the digital world behind and embrace all things analog. We're going to tap into that cool South Laguna old school vibe to bring art to the masses, 6 people at a time.  From street art to fine art, we want to see what mixing young, old, high, low, skilled and novice yields.  We're betting it will be as cool as the folks who live in SOLAG.
